Atlas Privacy Policy
Atlas is a live music discovery app operated by Atlas Live LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Atlas," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Atlas mobile app and website (together, the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We built Atlas to help you find live music, not to harvest your data. We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers in the Service.
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at atlaslivehtx@gmail.com.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
- Phone number. You sign up and log in to Atlas with your phone number. We use it to verify your identity by sending a one-time code via SMS.
- Profile information. Your display name and any optional profile details you choose to add.
- Check-ins. When you check in at a venue or event, we store a record of that check-in, including the venue, the event (if applicable), and the date and time.
- Scrapbook content. Photos, notes, and other content you add to your venue scrapbooks.
- Communications. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
- Precise location (while using the app). Atlas uses your device's location to show your position on the map and display nearby venues and events. Location is accessed only while the app is in use — we do not collect location in the background, and we do not store a history of your live location. The only location-related information we retain is the venue associated with each check-in you choose to make.
- Activity within the app. Your in-app activity, such as check-ins, XP points, levels, and streaks, is recorded to power Atlas's features.
- Technical data. Like most online services, our infrastructure providers automatically log basic technical information when your device connects to our servers, such as your IP address, device type, operating system version, and timestamps. We use this information only to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
What we don't collect
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, or tracking pixels. We do not access your contacts, microphone, camera roll (except for photos you choose to upload), or any other device data beyond what is described above.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and secure your account, including verifying your phone number;
- Operate the core features of the Service — the live map, venue and event discovery, check-ins, scrapbooks, and the XP and levels system;
- Maintain the safety and integrity of the Service, including moderating content and preventing spam, fraud, and abuse;
- Respond to your questions and support requests;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.
3. How We Share Your Information
With other users
Atlas is a social discovery app, so some of your information is visible to others by design. Your display name, profile, and check-in activity (for example, appearing in a venue's check-in count) may be visible to other users of the Service. Your phone number is never visible to other users.
With service providers
We share information with a small number of companies that help us run the Service. Each provider receives only the information needed to perform its function and is not permitted to use your information for its own purposes:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication system, and file storage (including scrapbook photos). Supabase infrastructure runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States.
- Twilio — receives your phone number solely to deliver your SMS verification code.
- Expo — provides application build, update, and web hosting infrastructure for the Service.
- Apple — distributes the iOS app through the App Store and processes any information governed by Apple's own policies.
Other circumstances
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order; to protect the rights, safety, or property of Atlas, our users, or others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information and we will notify you of any change in ownership.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Location Data
Because location is central to Atlas, here is exactly how it works:
- Location access is requested with your permission through iOS and is used only while the app is open.
- Your live location is used in real time to position you on the map and surface nearby venues and events. It is not stored on our servers.
- When you choose to check in, we store the check-in record (venue, event, and timestamp) as part of your account and scrapbook history. Check-ins are the only persistent location-related records we keep.
- You can revoke Atlas's location access at any time in your device's Settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services). The map and discovery features may not function without it, but you can still browse the Service.
5. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Specifically:
- Account and profile data is retained until you delete your account.
- Check-ins and scrapbook content are retained until you delete individual entries or delete your account, whichever comes first. Scrapbooks are designed as a lasting record of your live music history, so this content persists by default until you remove it.
- Technical logs are retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting purposes and are then deleted or anonymized.
When you delete your account, we delete your profile, phone number, check-ins, scrapbook content and photos, XP history, and other personal information associated with your account. Some information may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being permanently purged, and we may retain limited records where required by law.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction. You can view and edit your profile information directly in the app. If you would like a copy of the personal information we hold about you, email us at atlaslivehtx@gmail.com and we will provide it.
- Deletion. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account). This permanently deletes your personal information as described in Section 5. You can also request deletion by emailing us.
- Location. You control location access through your device settings, as described in Section 4.
- SMS. We send SMS messages only for login verification. We do not send marketing texts.
We will honor these rights regardless of where you live, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls on our database, and row-level security policies that restrict data access to authorized users. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we work to protect your information and will notify you as required by law in the event of a breach affecting your personal information.
8. Age Requirement and Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use Atlas. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a person under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at atlaslivehtx@gmail.com.
9. Users Outside the United States
Atlas is operated from the United States and is currently intended for users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features or service providers. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect, and we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
